Sustainability

Sustainability is at the core of Flo Fitness. We try our best to make our sustainable products as affordable as we can because doing good shouldn't cost you extra!
Our materials
All our activewear is made with OEKO-TEX certified ECONYL®. This is a fibre made from fishing nets and other plastic waste collected from the oceans. This is then melted down into a thread and made into a nylon fabric. Doing this helps to clear the plastic pollution in the oceans which kills millions of marine life each year. It also avoids using typical nylon production methods which creates nitrous oxide, a greenhouse gas 310 times more potent than carbon dioxide. This emits harmful greenhouse gases which contribute to global warming.
All our items are hand dyed using OEKO-TEX certified eco-friendly dyes. These dyes have less harmful chemicals and are produced using environmentally friendly methods. Typical fabric dyeing pollutes water of nearby communities, killing marine life and also harming locals by putting dangerous toxins in their water which they can no longer use for drinking or livestock.
Our packaging
Our packaging is 90% eco-friendly and uses no plastic. One time use plastic is one of the biggest polluters, so to prevent adding to the devastating impact of the retail industry we have opted for more environmentally friendly options. Our mailing bags and ziplock bags are both made from non-plastic, compostable and biodegradable materials. And our swing tags and packaging cards are made using recycled Kraft paper. We also recommend reusing your ziplock bags which are perfect for storing your items or when you travel instead of just throwing them away!
Our manufactures
Transparency is key for us throughout our whole supply chain so we made sure that we opted for an ethical manufacturer. Our manufacturer in Indonesia uses environmentally friendly production methods in an effort to reduce their carbon footprint. All employees are paid well above the minimum wage, have safe working conditions and have freshly cooked healthy meals prepared for lunch. Employee wellbeing is key. They also supply free medical insurance, including doctors’ fees, prescribed medications, and hospitalisation for each employee, spouse and children. They also work with local charities dedicated to helping homeless women and children who are living off rubbish dumps by offering them rehousing, education, clothing and other basic needs.
Slow fashion
The fast fashion industry causes devastating impacts on the environment it is the 2nd largest polluter in the world. The industry is responsible for 20% water pollution and is currently responsible for more annual carbon emissions than all international flights and maritime shipping combined. The majority of these fast fashion goods are disposed contributing to tonnes of landfill, this mainly includes cheap poorly made goods for mindless fast fads.
Instead we chose to produce high quality basics that are wardrobe staples and can be worn time and time again. Versatility is key, we want to give you the functionality to be able to style these pieces up for any occasion. whether it be going to the gym, coffee date or even a night out we got you covered. All our collections our produce in small limited batches to avoid waste and overproduction.
